Oocyte freezing is a process in which a woman's eggs (oocytes) are extracted, frozen and stored to preserve reproductive potential in women of reproductive age. The techniques leading to enhanced gamete survival, potential fertilization and live birth rates allow women a much greater degree of autonomy than was possible even in the past 5 years.
At Kamineni Fertility Centre, we not only assist a couple in achieving a successful pregnancy but we also respect a woman’s desire to start a family when she is mentally ready. We also facilitate:
Semen or Sperm Freezing is an option available to men who are going through treatment that can affect their fertility like Cancer treatment, deteriorating sperm quality overtime or for men who face difficulty in producing the sample on the day of the fertility treatment. It can be used for only for Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection. Semen freezing is also an option for donor sperms.
Embryo Freezing is done once the embryos are formed for the process of the IVF or ICSI procedures. Embryo Transfer takes place once the eggs have been fertilized and collected from the incubator the embryos transferred into the uterus for attaching itself to the endometrium.
Sometimes the embryo needs help to hatch before it can attach itself to the womb. Using external help to get the embryo to hatch is called Assisted Hatching.
In order toimprove the chances of pregnancy with a single embryo transfer, doctors allow the embryo to develop further as a blastocyte and then proceed with the transfer of blastocyte into the uterus.
The method is same as done in the process of IVF where men are required to provide semen in a cup, which is then frozen to be used at a later date.
Once the required number of embryos are transferred into the patient after an IVF procedure, they are put aside for freezing, so that they can be transferred directly into the uterus later when the couple either faces a failed IVF from the first cycle or wish to have another baby through the same method. There are no or very few risks involved in this process.
Since the fertility diminishes with the age, the chances of achieving pregnancy with frozen embryos also decreases with age.
Our embryologists use acid, laser or mechanical methods to thin out the outer layer of the embryocalled Zona Pellucida in order to make it easier for the embryo to attach itself. Since, only the outer protective layer of the embryo is being exposed to the treatment, the quality of the embryo is not affected.
The procedure of blastocyst transfer is quite similar to that of the embryo transfer, except that instead of directly implanting, it is left to develop more and multiply in the cell count, then it is transferred into the uterus.
